I’m Chris Jacobs, Senior Data Specialist and founder of Sweet Lake Analytics. I combine data science, software development and automation to turn complex challenges into reliable solutions for everyday operations. As an independent specialist, I deliver complete projects and join internal teams on a freelance or interim basis.
My experience spans scientific research and bioinformatics, geospatial data, machine learning and operational data solutions. At organisations including the Max Planck Institute, AND and Bayer, I worked with genomics, GIS and GPS data, computer vision, classification models and predictive analytics. This breadth has taught me to get to grips with new domains quickly and turn different types of complex data into practical solutions.
My PhD and postdoctoral research shaped how I work: formulating hypotheses, designing careful experiments and making results reproducible. I get to grips with new problems quickly, ask critical questions and explain technical decisions clearly to researchers, developers and business stakeholders.
My scientific work resulted in 17 peer-reviewed publications. You can find them on Google Scholar.

Is my organisation ready for this?
You don’t need a large data team or perfectly organised systems. A recurring manual task or a question your current data cannot answer is a good starting point. Together, we explore what is feasible and useful.
Can you temporarily join our internal team?
Yes. I also take on freelance and interim assignments on internal projects. I can join your team for model development and validation, data analysis, data engineering or process automation. We agree on the role, time commitment, duration and handover together.
Can you work with our existing systems?
That is usually the starting point. During discovery, we review your systems, APIs, files and available access. I then propose an approach that fits.
How much does a project cost?
That depends on your challenge, available data and the intended solution. After an initial conversation, you receive a proposal with scope, timeline and price. Any support after delivery is agreed separately.
